Every time I walk by a LUSH store, I am drawn inside by the bright colors of their products and mix of scents. As intriguing as all the bath bombs and bubble bars are, I’m not a bath person and I go into LUSH for the natural skincare products that are cruelty free. If you’ve always been curious about this store but don’t know what to begin trying, I hope this LUSH skincare review is helpful to you!
Herbalism | Cleanser | $33.95 for 8.5 oz
If you have have blemish-prone skin that is also on the oily side, this is an amazing cleanser that will help soothe your skin while also gently exfoliating it. In the container it is a crumbly mass of green which you need a dime size of. After mixing it with warm water into a paste consistency, it can be used to cleanse the skin.
Pros: Non-irritating. Gentle but still powerful. Doubles as a body cleanser. Doesn’t leave the skin feeling tight and dry.
Cons: Packaging is not as convenient as a traditional liquid/gel pump cleansers’ packaging. May expire before you can use up the whole thing (smaller sizes are available in stores). Strong scent – reminded me of seaweed. Does not remove makeup, sorry for those of you that like a one step cleanser!
Celestial | Moisturizer | $24.95 for 1.5 oz
I have sensitive skin that gets more dry in a cooler climate so I was really happy to find this moisturizer. It didn’t work for me in the summer because it was too greasy and took ages to absorb into my skin – though now it’s the perfect step after I’ve removed my makeup and cleansed my skin at night. Now that I always have my heater on and the wind can leave my skin feeling chapped, my skin soaks this up and it doesn’t feel as heavy. It smells faintly like vanilla frosting and looks a bit like it too! This was a tricky product that I hated at first and I still think the employee who assisted me was wrong in recommending it to me in the summer months, but I’m making it work now and it’s a treat for my skin.
Pros: Great for moisturizing dry skin. Pleasant, light scent. Non-irritating.
Cons: Can feel too greasy (use a light hand). Packaging (tends to get messy and excess product builds up around the sides). Pricy for the amount of product.
Grease Lightening | Spot Treatment | $13.95 for 1.5 oz
Don’t let the description of this product confuse you..it is listed as a cleanser but it’s really a spot treatment for blemishes. For hormonal flare ups that you can almost feel underneath your skin, this is my favorite product to apply right on top of my moisturizer before I sleep or underneath my makeup to gently work on treating and soothing the area. It’s not a magic eraser for blemishes but it seems to do the trick for me.
Pros: Affordable. Fresh scent. Gently soothes and treats blemishes.
Cons: Can cause skin to feel overly dry. Pump is hard to control sometimes.
