March was an incredible month because Spring began, I traveled to San Francisco on my spring break, and of course – the dreaded winter quarter of school ended. I can’t believe that I only have one more winter quarter of my undergrad years left! (P.S. Read about the 5 things I’ve learned in college so far here).
Here are the things that I’ve been loving this month! By the way, I always include links to products and anything that I mention if I’m able to find it!
1. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure – “In the Flesh“
If you haven’t noticed already, blush is one of the hottest colors of the season and I have hopped on this bandwagon as well. I don’t wear pink much but I almost always have my nails done, so this blush option for my nails has been what I’ve been wearing nonstop. I love the look of white nails because it’s so fresh and simple but it can look stark and admittedly a bit like white out..so I like that blush is softer but still gives a similar effect. I wear 3 coats of this for complete opaqueness and it lasts for a week straight with no chipping. That’s without a topcoat! Some other colors I’m loving for spring: this pink / mint / bright coral
2. Longchamp Large ‘Le Pliage’ Tote (On sale for 25% off!)
I love this bag so much that I have it in two different colors and I bought my mom one for Christmas last year, so when I go home there’s another color for me to borrow ;) Yes, it does seem that everyone and their mothers owns this purse, however it’s classic and a staple to own. I always travel with this purse and it has never failed me. The nylon can be wiped clean easily, the leather straps are comfortable, and it can be folded up into a tiny compact and flat thing to slide into your luggage. This is the bag I used most often on my trip to San Francisco this month and it was a lifesaver. If you love to tote around more than what you probably need (guilty..) then this bag will be your best friend. Your bag might get heavy from all your
crap necessities but at least the bag itself isn’t adding any extra weight to your shoulder. Also run, don’t walk to Nordstrom or just click on over to online browse because they’re price matching and the bag is 25% off right now – yes please!! (*Update: a reader notified me that they are no longer price matching, how sad! It wouldn’t hurt to go in the store and ask though, especially if you can find the bag for cheaper elsewhere.) These almost never go on sale so this is a serious steal. (They come in tons of great colors too!) P.S. Another one of my favorite bags that you’ve seen in many style posts is this Rebecca Minkoff one which is 20% off!
3. CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation
This was a total rave all over the YouTube beauty community months ago but the hype has died down a bit since then. I’ve been wearing this on and off since January and liked it but only until I traveled this month did I really appreciate its staying power and fell in love. This foundation works like a high end product but will only set you back $7 from the drugstore. If you’re a MAC NC30, shade 110 will be perfect for you. What’s great about it? Medium (but buildable) coverage, light feel on skin, no offensive scent, great squeeze tube packaging, natural finish, and super long lasting power. I think it wears well throughout the day and it’s fantastic for anyone with combination skin. I’ll review this powder in an upcoming post but if you’re curious, this is the one that I’ve been wearing on top of this foundation lately and it works like a dream! Best part about it, it’s less than $5.
4. L’Oreal Liner Intense Carbon Black – Felt Tip
I’m an eyeliner lover and religiously wear a true black line on my upper lashline with a slight flick at the end. I think this really opens up the eye and helps me look more awake. As a result, I’ve tried so many liners from low end to high end but I always come back to drugstore staples because they do the job and are much easier to drop by a store to pick up. This is an oldie but a goodie that any makeup lover has at some point tried. I like the no fuss packaging and thick felt tip that allows for a fairly easy application. I do wish the point was a bit more fine so it would make the flick at the end of the line I draw more precise but it’s still a great product. It’s super long lasting, will not crease or smudge on you (oily lidded gals, I’m talking to you), but isn’t hard to remove like the Benefit Push Up Liner – I felt like I had to scrub my skin to get that stuff off.
5. Darling Magazine
I have never enjoyed a magazine so much. Everything from the extraordinary styling, photography, writing, to the unique mission of this magazine has won me over. I could go on and on about this magazine but I’ll leave you with this for now: if you want to read a magazine that in and of itself looks like a piece of artwork and has a little bit of something for every woman, if you want to read a magazine that will inspire you, teach you something new, push you to try something novel, or connect you to other women; this is it, friends. Become a subscriber today and you can thank me for the suggestion later (haha).
If you missed my post reviewing and explaining what this jewelry subscription is all about, check it out here. Box after box, I am so thrilled with the pieces that I receive and wear the jewelry so much before I ship them back for the next batch. I can’t wait to buy some pieces to keep forever but first I want to try all that I can! The gals over at Rocksbox are so sweet and have extended the free month code so that if you haven’t already, you can sign up and receive a month for free with my code: atinycupofcakexoxo. Treat yourself, you know you want to!
7. Herbal Essences Wild Naturals Rejuvenating Oil Elixir*
I’ve tried a few oil products for my hair but generally they aren’t my favorite because I can’t feel much of a difference after using other than the occasional feeling that my hair is weighted down and looks like I could use a shower. My hair seems to be prone to getting oily so adding oil to it isn’t my initial thought when it comes to my haircare routine. However, this product has been awesome! It’s light but provides moisture and helps tame my wild baby hairs and I can actually feel it working and nourishing my hair. The scent is also really pleasant – but I can’t describe it. You can get it for less than $3 and a little goes a LONG way, so you don’t have much to lose here. My favorite higher end oil product is this one.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my March favorites! I love sharing these things with you because they treated me so well during the past month. If you’re curious, here are my other favorites post so far from the start of 2015: January / February
*Disclaimer: I am lucky enough to work with certain companies that sometimes send me products to test and review. As always, this post was written with my honest opinion. A big thank you to Rocksbox and Influenster for sending me goodies!
