A quick browse through my blog would tell you that I love to support local Seattle businesses and I also love wearing sneakers. My philosophy that you can wear sneakers with anything is definitely thanks to the Seattle style scene. We wear a lot of casual clothing in Seattle but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring. LIKELIHOOD is the best spot in Seattle to buy sneakers and show that there is nothing boring or unfashionable about sneakers.
Earlier tonight I attended a pop-up shop there (more like a party!) to celebrate art and support Artist Trust. We got to shop sneakers and totes with embroidered portraits of iconic artists by Mia Weiner. It was really nice to chat with Mia and hear how she’s worked to get to where she is. All proceeds from the event and fees from TodayTix purchases for the next week will be donated to Artist Trust. (Read more about all the partners below!)
LIKELIHOOD: A Seattle owned shop that features the best of Seattle culture, fashion, and footwear.
TodayTix: A free app that helps you find last minute tickets for the best price to local events in your city.
Mia Weiner: Brooklyn based textile artist who loves anything embroidered. Check out her amazing work here.
There were several artists to choose from for the tote bags and shoes, but I decided to go with Kurt Cobain. I’m not a Nirvana super fan but I did want to pick an artist from Seattle. I can’t wait to wear these more because I have a feeling they are going to be a great conversation starter! Either from people who love Kurt Cobain or people who have no idea who the man on my shoes is!
Side note – while some of you may have grown up listening to grunge, I actually listened to classical music a ton as a child. I studied piano for years and my dad is a huge classical music guy. So when I saw the Yo-Yo Ma tote, it totally brought me back to my classical music days :)
If you haven’t checked out LIKELIHOOD, head over to their space even if you’re not shopping for sneakers. It’s a beautiful space and I love how inspiring it is! Even Jared left with a new pair of shoes tonight. Also don’t forget that all ticketing fees from TodayTix purchases this week will be donated to this awesome cause. Thanks to the TodayTix team for inviting me to this event!
