It feels like I haven’t written a style post in forever. (In reality, it’s only been a few weeks. Me? Dramatic? Never.) I’ve just been up to a lot lately and I always prefer to be the one behind the camera then so I can take photos of what I’m doing. Three years into blogging, I still don’t love being in front of the camera. I’m working on it though I promise!
In the past year I’ve been trying to downsize my closet so I haven’t been buying a lot of new clothing. Without new pieces to shoot, it gets tough to brainstorm new outfits to shoot for posts. The thing is, I have never once had the intention to blog about clothes that I bought simply for the photos. As I work on creating an intentional wardrobe, it’s a fun challenge to create new looks with some old pieces in the mix. This simple look is a mix of old and new as well!
This boxy tee is from Nordstrom’s Lush brand and I’ve been really liking it! I wasn’t expecting to love the shape but it’s proven to be versatile and comfy. You know that that’s what I look for in clothing pieces! It’s currently on sale at Nordstrom Rack here. I last wore it in this post but I bet you couldn’t tell it had a boxy shape! My favorite thing about this top is that it’s not see through at all. I can’t tell you how many flowy tops I own that require a cami underneath. The sizing is true to size, so I’m wearing a small.
My suede slides are also pretty new! I found these on major clearance at Ross and they were only $7. The brand is UNISA which you can find at retailers like DSW or Amazon. I can’t believe I found these because are such close dupes to these slides by Sam Edelman. The little tassel detail is so cute and make these look a little less like house slippers, I think haha. They compliment my old jeans I bought at Primark during my trip to London well. I wish I bought more pairs there!
On Saturday, Jared and I spent the day hanging out in downtown Seattle which is something we always do around either of our birthdays. (It’s his birthday today!!) I wanted to check out the Dress for Success summer clothing sale and I’m SO happy I did! Not only did I learn more about their programs, I found myself a great deal. This new to me Tory Burch wallet was marked down to $10 so it came home with me. I never wear yellow so this gorgeous mustard color is a welcome addition to my closet. It has a ton of compartments and even fits my iPhone and some other small items, so it could easily be used in lieu of a purse.
I’ll be sharing more in the future when they have their designer sale in the fall. I can’t wait to get more goodies! For those of you in Seattle (especially my eastside readers), consider checking out this Bottles and Brushes event at the Bravern. Wine, painting, and supporting a great cause! Learn more about Dress for Success here.
My friend Sheila and I were invited by the Fearey Group to attend one of the Bottles & Brushes sessions at the Bravern. It was such a fun time hanging out with Sheila and catching up in between sips of wine and of course, painting. My favorite part about the delicious snacks and yummy wines that we had is that they were all from women owned businesses. I’m so inspired by the female entrepreneurs and volunteers that came together for this cause!
The painting portion of the event is perfect for any skill level. I promise you, even a beginner can create a masterpiece because the teachers make it so simple. I loved the set up because you could interact with the teacher and get personalized help if necessary. You also get the chance to interact with other attendees – Sheila and I had some laughs with our neighboring artists :)
And of course, the gorgeous setting at the Bravern makes for the perfect backdrop. I actually park at the Bravern for work so I am very familiar with it and was excited to hear that the event was hosted there. The Bravern is beautiful and has amazing service from the valet to the concierge. Painting and drinking wine to the peaceful music they play at the Bravern was honestly so relaxing. I didn’t even feel like I was in the middle of downtown Bellevue!
I highly recommend getting tickets to this event if you’re looking for a fun time! Grab a few of your friends and come have fun while you support a great cause. You’ll get to take home a beautiful painting, a wine glass, and you’ll receive complimentary valet parking. There are two more dates coming up: August 5th and August 12th. Click each date to see what the painting will be, for more info, and to buy tickets.
