Hair routines are wildly different from person to person simply because we all have unique hair types and conditions but I think this post will be useful to anyone who wants nourished hair for an affordable price. To give you a little background, my hair is about shoulder length now (after having it super long for years!) and color treated. I wash it every other day, mainly because of my work out schedule, use heat products a few times a week, and don’t use a lot of product on it to prevent it from being weighed down. I have very thick hair that’s naturally straight so my main concern is keeping the ends nourished and my scalp moisturized since it’s sensitive, but I don’t want to add too much product that’s going to cause build up and make it greasy.
Now that you’ve been introduced to my hair type, let’s get into this review of Hask’s Monoi Coconut Oil collection and how I use these products in my current hair routine!
HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shampoo ($5.99) – Like I mentioned before, my scalp is sensitive and I find that when I’m doing a hard work out and sweating a lot, my scalp is the first place to start feeling tight and itchy. This shampoo lives up to its name and is completely nourishing and soothes my scalp. I don’t feel like it leaves any residue and adds moisture without leaving me to look like a greaseball. The products are all free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten, alcohol, and artificial colors. I love that! The packaging is great as it’s a slim tube with an easy to open top. If you’ve read my other beauty reviews, you’ll know that I describe how much I like a scent by how much I want to eat it. 10/10 want to eat this stuff. It smells pretty delicious.
HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Conditioner ($5.99) – I use this conditioner almost every time I wash my hair except for one day out of the week when I use something more deep conditioning. I find that some conditioners are not thick enough to stay in your hair but this texture is thick and creamy. I usually rinse out the shampoo, squeeze out the water in my hair, and apply this to the last few inches of my hair and clip it up with a butterfly clip. Leaving in conditioner, even if it’s not a deep treatment, is crucial to keeping my hair relatively frizz free and manageable. I can’t say this is really life changing but it is a good standard conditioner to use on a regular basis. Again, great smell.
HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shine Hair Oil ($2.99) – Hair oils and I have a love hate relationship. I have tried many over the years and love the shine they provide but I always fear the oiliness that could potentially get all over my pillow case/face during my sleep and potentially clog up pores. I use this product sparingly (in quantity and frequency) and try to use it hours before sleeping so it really gets soaked up by my hair. This is a good smoothing product if you are styling your hair too.
HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner ($2.99) – The packaging of this isn’t great but don’t worry, it comes in a tube that’s much easier to use! This is like the conditioner but more rich in texture and you leave it on for 10 minutes. I use deep conditioners about once a week (but sometimes every two weeks) and leave it on for probably 12-15 minutes. Like I said, my hair is thick, so I feel that it takes a little longer to get to the core! It makes my hair so soft and it’s definitely my favorite product out of the line. I would recommend this to everyone!
Overall, I’m very pleased with these products and will be purchasing more from this brand as soon as I need a refill of any of the products. I love any hair product that smells nice but it’s a bonus when the scent is not something that irritates my scalp from being too artificially sweetened. Also, this is a major plus: being able to purchase HASK from local drugstores like Walgreens and also at Ulta. These are great products and I’m so glad I tried them because now I’m excited to try all the other lines. Let me know if you have tried any of these or plan to!
