I’m baaaack! Remember me? :) Its been a few days since I talked to you guys! If you’re following me on Instagram then you know I was back in my hometown for the weekend. It was such a short, busy trip! My laptop and blog camera never left my backpack until I unpacked because I ended up not having any time to do any work. In between a wedding, Mother’s Day, an anniversary, and travel back to Seattle I was pretty busy. What a great opportunity for a life lately update though, right?
First let’s talk weddings. If you’re also in your early 20s, you’re probably in the same boat as me. It seems like every other day you see another engagement pop up on Facebook. Despite the frequency, it may still feel weird to you. (Or is that just me?) I have a terrible sense of time and joke that I think I’m still 18 years old. Obviously, not true as it has already been a year since I graduated college (omg) and I just celebrated my 23rd birthday. That, my friends, is called denial of adulthood. Turns out adult life is not all its cracked up to be. It’s hard!!!
Like when my dad was talking 401k’s and IRAs with me this weekend. I actually cried a few tears because I realized that sh*t is hard. And I would feel so lost without my parents. For any of you who are younger or you still live at home, treasure your time with your parents. You will miss their coddling, I swear. :)
Okay back to weddings. It’s time for me to accept weddings are going to be a frequent social event in my calendar for the next several years. This weekend we got to celebrate with our friends from high school, Sean and Madalyn, as they got married in a really sweet, intimate setting. Obviously I shed a few more tears again. I wore this beautiful cold shoulder dress for the occasion and so many people asked about it! Unfortunately, the dress is now sold out! However I found some (very) similar options that would be perfect if you’re on the hunt for a wedding guest dress. I linked some options that aren’t maxi for those of you who don’t like long dresses! Yes, the theme here is cold shoulder and no, I’m not sick of it yet. Remember this TOBI cold shoulder dress I styled in this post? I can’t wait to wear that one again.
Nordstrom is definitely my favorite place to shop for wedding guest dresses because the selection is so vast. Years ago I worked in the Special Occasion/Dresses department so I know the variety is great for all wedding guests. Whether you’re a bridesmaid, Mother of the Bride, or a friend helping with coordination you’ll find something. For this specific wedding, I bought two other dresses from Nordstrom to try. Unfortunately I didn’t size up enough but they were great contenders. If lace is more your style than floral, check out this beautiful lace off the shoulder number or this one with sleeves. (These are two of the pieces in the photo I posted on Instagram below.) Tip: ASTR the Label runs small so size up!
For a weekend full of special occasions, I also made sure I had some great cards. You guys know how much of a stationary nerd I am. When Allison from Sentiment Supply (a fellow stationary nerd) emailed me about her shop, I was like – UM, CAN I HAVE IT ALL? Give me any excuse to use cute stationary, but especially if it’s an occasion celebrating love or my favorite person in the world, my mom. I chose the two cards below because not only are they adorable, but they fit the people I gave them to.
I love that Allison offers free shipping for single cards and she’s all about supporting other women, whether you’re a mom or a business owner (or both). There are a lot of adorable things in her shop that I would highly recommend. Here are some of my favorites: this ice cream pin / “You’re Like Really Pretty” mirror / Thanks a Bunch banana card / menu planning notepad.
Since we had such a busy weekend, we kept anniversary celebrations short. Jared and I squeezed in lunch at our favorite sushi spot in our hometown. It’s also sentimental for us because it’s where we went for our first date over 6 years ago. It felt surreal to go back to the first restaurant we ate at together considering how different our lives are now!
This week we’re going to be planning out some day trips for the long weekend at the end of this month. Fingers crossed for sunshine and light traffic :) Do you guys have favorite destinations just a few hours from Seattle? Leavenworth is on our list since we couldn’t make it there back in January due to snow.
