Hi, again! If you read my May goals post you’ll know why it seems like I’ve been posting more frequently lately. I won’t lie to you guys, but I did not feel like writing today’s post. At all. I had a busy day at work and I just finished cooking/eating my first Blue Apron meal. I really just want to sit on my comfy couch and watch the latest episode of The Leftovers now. So why am I still writing this?
I know consistency is important. As someone who checks their YouTube subscriptions and Bloglovin feed daily for new videos or blog posts, I know it’s disappointing when there’s no new content. The thing is, it’s rare that there isn’t any new content. So on the flip side as a content creator, I realize that it’s important for me to publish often with the consumer in mind. Namely, the consumer that is just like me – who wants new content all the time. But I’m not trying to throw together a crappy post just for the sake of posting! I scrapped my original post idea for today to write what I genuinely want to share with you guys today. These are links I’ve shared on Twitter, texted to friends, and even sent to my mom in our Facebook chat lately. If you find yourself loving these too, consider sharing them or giving the authors some love!
1. Before and After of a Tudor Home Renovation via Arrow and ApplePhoto from Sarah of Arrow and Apple
You guys. I’m the biggest sucker for before and afters. Do you see the natural light in this home?! Yeah okay, I need to move to Arizona. It’s so satisfying to see a transformation in the matter of scrolling for a few seconds. Obviously there is a ton of work behind the photos though. Lord knows that if it weren’t for the pretty after photos, I would never consider doing a renovation. One day when I manage to buy a home (what’s up crazy Seattle market) I would love to fix up a house. Saving this to look back on later. (Also Sarah is hilarious on Twitter, go follow her.)
2. Buying Instagram Followers: Is it really worth it? via The Demure Muse
Katrina is one of my friends that I met through the Seattle blogging community. She and I have texted on numerous occasions about this topic so as you can imagine, I was pretty excited to read her blog post. Check out her post for a discussion on the good, the bad, and the ugly around cheating on Instagram. (Hint: there’s not much that falls under the good category.)
Here’s why I love this so much. It’s starting a conversation in the community about a topic that many of us have very strong feelings about. I already see from some discussion that it’s helping others understand the “game” that Instagram has become. Especially newer bloggers. It has certainly helped me reevaluate and think what direction I want to go with my social media presence. Lastly, I love a good argument with picture proof. Who doesn’t? :)
This is one of the links that I was obsessing over and immediately sent over to my mom. My parents are very into real estate but we’re talking thousands of square feet homes. I thought my mom would find it super interesting how Kelly and her husband live in a mere 300 square feet. It’s fascinating to see how they utilize their space and manage to decorate it so beautifully. In contrast to the first home I shared, this also intrigues me and makes me wonder if I could ever live in a tiny home. My gut says no but wouldn’t it be a fun experiment? I don’t think my 6’2 boyfriend would agree…
4. Lastly, although it’s not a blog post it’s a link to a shopping site I’ve loved using for months. This week it’s especially great because there are tons of sites that you can get 15% cash back on. Ebates is free and all you have to do is create an account, find the store you want to shop at, and Ebates will direct you to the store’s site. It’s one extra step where it redirects you to the retailer you were going to shop at anyway, but it captures the purchase so you get extra cash back. I like getting cash back on top of my credit card perks! Full disclosure: this is not sponsored at all but I am sharing a referral link. If you sign up with my link, you get $10 after spending your first $25 and I’ll get $5. If you don’t want to use my referral link, simply sign up on the Ebates site directly! It won’t hurt my feelings :)
Happy reading! I hope you guys like these links I shared and I’m excited to share more in the future. You know how much I like to type so as you can imagine, sharing a link on Twitter is not quite as satisfying ;)
