If you know me at all (or at the least, follow me on Instagram), then you know that I’m a huge fan of Molly Moon’s. Homemade ice cream is my jam, but there are plenty of other reasons why I’m such a die hard fan of this wonderful local business. Here are just a few:
-As a recent business school grad, I have a huge interest in entrepreneurial success stories. Molly (yes, she is a real person!) created this business 8 years ago and she is such an inspiration to me. A total girl boss and such a sweet, down to earth person to talk to.
-They rock at branding. All their stores have a unique aesthetic. The packaging, merchandise, social media…I could go on for a while. They pay attention to details and that is something that I really appreciate.
-The sense of community. You might think this is silly – I mean, how can an ice cream shop really give back to the community and actually cultivate a sense of community? Check out the Milk Fund page for more information and if you’re looking for a job, ask about the benefits. Things like free ice cream and yoga, 100% paid health care and paternity/maternity leave, and so on. It makes me happy to support a business that I know really cares about its own people, not just its customers.
-Oh, and they make some damn good ice cream. Bad day? A giant scoop (or two) of earl grey never fails me. I love this stuff so much that I traveled hours over winter break with a cooler bag filled with ice cream so that my family could try it.
Aside from sharing my love for Molly Moon’s, I wanted to share with all my Seattle area readers that the newest location is open today!! This is the east side’s first shop and it’s such an amazing space. It’s connected to the Homegrown sandwich shop in Redmond, WA and I can’t tell you how excited I am about it. I first tried and started loving Molly Moon’s when I started attending the University of Washington. Due to its location, I would frequent the nearby 3 stores all the time. I’ve since graduated and started my big girl job in Redmond so you can imagine how happy I am that Molly Moon’s has joined me over on the east side. What a great welcome to this new city!
They are open today at 3 PM and if you have little ones, there are free scoops for those 12 and under! Not to mention, tons of amazing merchandise for all ages. (If you like being comfy and reppin’ your love for ice cream, you have to get the ice cream crewneck. It’s the softest thing I own.)
