Off the shoulder for springtime? Groundbreaking. (If you know what movie I’m sort of referencing then we can be friends. And if you don’t like Meryl Streep then that makes me sad.) I’m noticing that rather than florals for spring retailers are going crazy with the off the shoulder trend. I wish that it was appropriate for the workplace but for weekends and vacation, this is going to be such a fun dress! Jared and I booked tickets for our next big trip already and I know I’ll be packing this with me. Hint: it’s somewhere tropical. Another hint: it’s not until the fall so you’ll have forgotten about this dress by the time we are there. (I hope.)
How cute are the ties on the sleeves of this dress?! I found so many cute off the shoulder dresses on TOBI but was sold on the adorable ties. I also like that the sleeves cover you up a bit more. Off the shoulder tops and dresses are so cute but can we talk about how weird they feel at first? They feel so odd if you’re not used to wearing them! I find that the slightest movement can cause it to slip around on your shoulders. It’s a bit high maintenance for clothing so you definitely have to choose the right occasion to wear an off the shoulder dress.
Note to self: start brushing your hair. Don’t laugh, but I honestly never brush my hair. Maaaybe once a week. I’m pretty lazy when it comes to hair and I like a messy “I woke up like this” hairdo. After I use a curling iron to get some waves in for texture, I use my favorite styling tool: my hands. When you add all my baby hairs into the mix, my hair looks a little crazy sometimes. So. I guess I should try to make my hair look more presentable in the future. We’ll see how this goes.
In case you’re wondering about the shoes, I bought these when Wet Seal was trying to sell off all of their merchandise as the store went out of business. I never shopped there when was I was teen but I get suckered into crazy deals so I browsed the site late one night…and the rest was history. I had seen heels almost identical to these at Nordstrom but never bought them because I don’t wear heels often. Plus, the Vince Camuto Tarita Cutout sandals cost over $100. I think mine were under $15! There’s a huge difference in quality but I will only wear these a handful of times I bet, so it’s not a big deal to me. For other cutout sandals, check these ones out:
If you’ve been around for a while, you know I’m serious about building relationships with the local businesses in the Seattle area. I didn’t grow up here but Seattle has been my home for five years now. One of the most rewarding parts of writing a blog is being able to share these local companies with others in the area.
Earlier this week, Jared and I got to check out Art of the Table‘s new digs and sample food and drinks from their tasting menu. It was such a fun experience that I had to share. (By the way, no one asked me to write this. They don’t even know about this post!) There are so many unique concoctions from the drink menu to the food offerings. In just a few hours, we tried everything from foie gras to seared tuna to truffles. Everything was beautifully presented and thoughtfully served. Chef Dustin would even meticulously plate the food with what look like giant tweezers. Aside from delicious food, I would recommend visiting for the beautiful interiors as well. The restaurant is much larger than the previous location and has a beautiful mix of wood, metals, and greenery. Bonus: if you know me at all, you know the people behind these local businesses are what make them special to me. Dustin and his wife Shannon are incredibly passionate people who really care about their restaurant, where the food is sourced, their team, and the experience you have while dining here. If you’re a foodie, this would be a great place for an intimate dinner with a significant other or small group of friends.
Whew. If you made it all the way to the end of this post, thanks for reading! We are almost to the weekend, folks. Wishing you all the best day and happy almost Friday!
