Maybe this is my own weird mentality, but if I only need to try on one item at a store I often bring several other random items into the fitting room so it’s “worth it”. I dread fitting rooms but trying on in store does make it easier because you’ll inevitably have less to return and less chance of buying something you only kept out of convenience. More often than not, the random items are total duds but there is occasionally a gem in there. Guess what?? I found one of those gems on a recent trip to Old Navy!
A gem that I can mix and match with tons of existing items in my closet. A gem that cost $10.99. (Internally screaming.) And shockingly enough it didn’t make me look like a potato although from the hanger you would have thought so. Unfortunately since it was on clearance I couldn’t find it online but run to your local Old Navy! By the way, my denim jacket was a $7 find at Old Navy. Scoooore. Outfit details: Old Navy shift dress (similar here and on sale for $14 here!) / Old Navy denim jacket / Olive bomber jacket (similar) / Mossimo booties (similar) / Adidas Stan Smith sneakers (on sale for $60!) / Watch c/o Aibi Watch (similar) / Rebecca Minkoff crossbody / Pave disc necklace c/o Rocksbox
It’s no surprise that the dress is black but hey, I can’t kick old habits and it’s not really my fault that they didn’t have any other colors on the rack, okay? I love shift dresses because they are so much more casual and comfortable than a bodycon. I feel comfortable wearing shift dresses to any occasion. They are very forgiving no matter what your body shape is so I say shift dresses for all. There are also a million things to wear a basic shift dress with. Simply switching out the shoes and jacket here made two completely different looks!
Also, I just wanted to say that I am really impressed by Old Navy lately. I used to wear Old Navy when I was in elementary school then I kind of stopped as it didn’t seem “cool”. (You remember those middle school Hollister days right?) But now I think Old Navy is very on trend and I love their pieces. The best part is they always have sales so it’s really affordable. Don’t knock the quality either because most of my pieces from Old Navy have held up well.
Excuse the quality of this photo…the settings on my camera were totally wonky for this outfit and this is the best shot with my shoes. (If you can believe it, the other shots were even more grainy and blurry! Oops…) I should probably stick with the settings I know next time hehe. Are you more into wearing heels or sneakers? I love both, but I think I prefer sneakers with dresses. It makes the look more casual and if we’re being honest, I don’t have much need to be dressed to the nines in my life. Seattle is such a casual city already but enter the tech industry and you get an even more relaxed dress code.
Speaking of casual, I’m heading to a Mariner’s game on Friday! I’ve been to many baseball games since moving to Seattle and I don’t think I’ve gone a single time without wearing my white Converse. There’s a 99% chance I’ll be wearing them again tomorrow. I usually also wear a baseball tee that I got from (you guessed it) Old Navy. They have a whole selection of MLB gear in case you’re also heading to a baseball game this season! I will probably be posting some photos to my Instagram story so follow along there. I’m going for the food, so don’t expect too much about actual baseball. :)
Hope you all have a great day! It’s almost the weekend yay!
