Hiiii! I’ve been traveling internationally the past few weeks hence the break from posting. I was hoping to schedule some posts to go up while I was in China and Japan however the weeks leading up to my trip were insane. If you haven’t already, you can check out some snippets of my travels over on my Instagram. I also saved the stories into some highlights on my profile. Throughout the rest of summer I’ll be sharing a few posts from the trip on here.
Since my last post was travel related, I wanted to post something about my little home in Seattle. I live with my boyfriend, Jared, in a 1-bedroom apartment in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. We love the convenience of living right in the city but I have to admit, it does get pretty noisy. We only have about 700 square feet however the layout in our home has an open feel. For the two of us, it’s perfectly comfortable. We’re mostly just grateful to be living together and not separated by distance like when we went to college in two different cities. I’m convinced what makes a home perfect is who you share it with, not the layout, the decor, or anything else.
Our couch is the first big purchase Jared and I ever made together. It was the first splurge and piece of furniture we bought for our first apartment and frankly, I am obsessed with it. I want to keep this forever! We went to DANIA and fell in love with this sectional. You can’t tell since the photo cuts it off but it’s an L-shaped sectional that’s huuuuge. It was actually difficult for us to find an apartment that could fit our massive couch! My favorite thing was customizing the couch fabric. We went with a heathered gray fabric that is durable and works with a lot of accent colors. The two right pillows are actually pillows we also customized. Here are similar couches that I like that are way more affordable than ours…heheh.
By the way, the yellow pouf was handmade by my mom!! Isn’t it cute?! They’re usually super expensive so I was really excited that she made one for me. Plus, she was able to make it from things she already had at home. I found this pouf and this pouf online and they are sooo cute. It’s not that easy to find them under $100 sorry :(
Alright…I’ll be honest. We don’t use the bar cart functionally but it’s the CUTEST decoration right? Jared bought me this when we moved into our first apartment and it made me feel like such an adult! I love the mix of wood, metal, and leather all in one cart.
I have to admit the rug was not my best purchase. I love how it looks and how it fits the space perfectly but the wool just sheds all over like crazy. I linked a similar rug because I actually don’t recommend buying from RugsUSA because the customer service is pretty bad. The faux plant is to add a bit more greenery to the room and I don’t have to worry about killing it! I still need to get a small basket to put it in so let me know if you have recommendations! (Thanks to Silk Plants Direct and team at Museum Trees for sending this to me.)
Another little detail that I love is the wall hanging that I made that hangs in the corner. It’s literally just cream yarn knotted around a wooden dowel. It barely cost me anything to make and it was so easy to do!
It’s simple but it’s home :)
