HELLO HEY HI, remember me?! To say its been a bit since my last post is an understatement. In the past 4+ years of blogging, I don’t think I have taken such a long break. I’ve been away for good reason though, I promise. What have I been up to since I last wrote a blog post?
I got engaged to the love of my life.
I went on my first business trip and spoke at a conference! (Oh, also this trip brought me to Disney World for a whole week which was great.)
I planned and helped host my first blog event.
I started wedding planning.
I tried yoga.
I brunched countless times.
I reunited with people that I hadn’t seen in a while.
Honestly the past two months away have been a whirlwind. I cannot put into words the feelings that I’ve felt. There have been insane highs and definitely some lows. I thought this time in my life was supposed to be all sunshine and rainbows so I felt guilty to feel anything other than happiness. The truth is, you can’t have a season of change and growth without both the highs and lows.
So here we are. The present is so good, but there are still some things in my life that I’m just figuring out. It’s hard and can be so frustrating and overwhelming. The bright side is that I am going through this all with my best friend and soon-to-be lifelong partner. Thank you J, for learning and growing with me.
Now because I feel like this is way too short, here are some questions I got asked on Instagram! I forgot how to find the questions people submit after the story expires so it took me a while to get back on these haha. For anyone who’s wondering, you go to your Archived stories to find the questions :)
Q: On a scale of 1-10, how Pinterest-y is your wedding going to be?
A:First of all, HAHAHAHA. I want to say a 5. I’m not going to pretend I’m not looking at Pinterest but I’m also not one to go overboard when it comes to my actual wedding. I looooove an extravagant, over the top wedding sure…but when I’m paying for it, nah. Pinterest is good for ideas to get started but my goal is not to copy Pinterest, it’s to pick things that Jared and I like.
Q: What are some ways to increase productivity when it’s crunch time?
A: Turn your phone off and put it in another room!!! Break up tasks or to-do lists into smaller, manageable chunks so you start with the most pressing items first. Crossing off smaller items on my to-do list helps me stay motivated as well. Also, noise canceling headphones.
Q: Do you dress up for Halloween?
A: Not really. I’m honestly too lazy for costumes and I didn’t dress up much when I was a kid. BUT I now work for a company that is obsessed with Halloween so I may or may not have a costume this year.
Q: What is something you want your children to do or have, that you didn’t do or have growing up?
A: I want my children to try more things. Even if they hate something and only try it once or twice, I would like them to have at least tried it to say they’ve done it. I didn’t do a lot when I was little. That’s not meant to sound sad, haha. I actually was given a lot of opportunity and my parents would have helped me do a lot of things. It was mostly myself – I have always been fairly timid and weary of trying new things. So I guess at the end of the day, I want my kids to grow up with courage to try new things and I will do my best to support whatever those things are.
Q: What is your favorite way to unwind from a long day or stress?
A: Pajamas, take out, and some sort of TV show that I can (hopefully) binge watch.
Q: Ethics question. Truth versus loyalty?
A: THIS IS HARD. Also, I actually have to run to an appointment soon hahaha so I’m going to keep it brief. I’m going to pick truth because I’m a logical person. That was probably an unsatisfactory answer but seriously, I gotta go and if I don’t hit publish I will let this sit for a week.
Ok byeeeee. The next post will hopefully be Jared’s post about the proposal!!
