Hi again, blogging world! Between holiday breaks and a rather stressful finals week I have been on blogging hiatus but I am so happy to be back. The last post I shared is all about transitioning into Fall but now that we’re just a few days away from Christmas (wow) I thought it would be appropriate to make a comeback with a thick wool turtleneck sweater. More discussion on the sweater at the end of the post.
Let’s have a little sweater chat now. Out of all the sweaters that I own none are turtlenecks and I think the last time I wore a turtleneck was when I was in elementary school. I think it was a baby blue glittery number from Gap. And I really didn’t like it. So fast forward to almost 2015, here I am wearing a chunky and oversized sweater that I pulled from my mom’s closet and I absolutely love it. Turtlenecks are completely sensible because they keep you warm without having to wear a scarf but they aren’t always our first choice because they don’t scream glamorous. This sweater is no exception as it is oversized and shapeless. It is very, very cozy though.
Sweater weather is all about staying cozy and warm so I say go for the chunky turtleneck that your mother is bound to have in her wardrobe. Keep your bottoms more clean and fitted with skinny jeans or something more fun- like faux leather leggings. Add statement jewelry or wear some shoes that also make a statement. With this outfit, I opted for no jewelry other than my Chloe and Isabel Morningtide studs and wore these royal blue and black pumps that spice up the outfit a bit. And that, folks, is how you get away with wearing an otherwise plain Jane kind of turtleneck and get away with it.
Outfit details: Turtleneck – no brand (similar)| Denim – ZARA (similar here) | Ankle strap pumps – Mossimo (tip: order your true size but beware: the ankle straps aren’t adjustable and are very narrow) similar here | Purse – Rebecca Minkoff
Wishing you all a fun and festive holiday season! XO,
