I’m really excited about this post for a few reasons.
1) I love Autumn. Who doesn’t love Autumn? 2) Mixing patterns is lots of fun. (My favorite pairing is leopard with stripes!) 3) Most importantly.. I love Christina!! One of my best friends, she is going to be the star of the show today. Her Autumn look is so cute but also her smile is infectious. We had so much fun shooting for this because we just kept laughing :)
How cute is she?!
My top tips for mixing patterns and styling them for Autumn:
-Transition your summer pieces, like a floral statement scarf, into Autumn by pairing it with a classic pattern such as stripes. In this look, Christina paired a staple Fall item that everyone should own: a lightweight striped sweater with her scarf. When one of the patterns is random (such as floral), you can pair it with a piece that has a structured pattern like checks or stripes. If you’re feeling brave, go for something like polka dots and floral!
-If you’re afraid that the two will clash too much, look at the two together before putting it on to see how you can tone down the mismatch. Bring in some sort of uniformity like wearing a similar toned color whether it’s your shoes or your bag. Christina wore a pair of burgundy cords (that I love!!) that match the scarf’s flowers.
-Keep the rest of the outfit minimal. Let the patterns be your statement and ditch the heavy jewelry, wear neutral colored shoes, and keep the makeup light.
I hope this brings you some Autumn style inspiration and that my tips were helpful! Look out for my next style post where I’ll be sharing one of my personal go to outfits for Autumn featuring a fun little DIY!
