Happy Valentine’s day! I know some of you are probably not big fans of this holiday and to be honest, neither am I. Going out on Valentine’s day is also a nightmare in my opinion, haha. Last year was the first year that Jared and I lived together so we decided to stay in and take advantage of the fact we weren’t doing long distance after so many years. It was such a fun night despite our failed attempt to make homemade sushi :)
I have no idea what we’re doing tonight but I do know that Jared is surprising me with something after work! We both have busy work weeks and I actually have a 7AM call the next day so I know we’re not going to be doing anything crazy. Relaxing at home with my best friend sounds pretty much perfect anyway!
I’ve never been one to wear something bright red or pink for any occasion, so you won’t find me wearing anything like that on Valentine’s day either. I do like a small hint of blush pink so these suede shoes and a soft blush pink sweater are about as festive as I’ll get. If you’re like me and not a fan of wearing bright colors, shoot for colorful shoes at least. It can make any outfit more interesting!

Over the weekend I did a small project with Halal Guys and part of that involved eating, duh. Jared and I drove over to Pioneer Square after a day of errands to reward ourselves. Since we usually park at this parking structure when we come to Pioneer Square you’ll recognize the background from some old photos probably! I absolutely love the historic feel of this neighborhood and think it’s the perfect backdrop for any photos.
Speaking of errands, we went to IKEA to use some store credit that we’ve had for a while. It was surprisingly easy to find parking and it wasn’t total chaos inside. I’m not really a fan of decorating with IKEA furniture because then your home ends up looking like everyone else’s. Plus I find the quality to be pretty bad. The good thing about IKEA is that there are tons of small decor items that are really affordable. We managed to find a few really cute decor pieces that I’m excited to display. (Currently waiting on a drill and a stud finder before I can show you some of the decor!) One of the things I didn’t buy but am regretting is this cute farmhouse pitcher – it’s available on Amazon Prime though! I had no idea you could buy IKEA on Amazon until recently. Inevitably, we also needed some random household things that we deemed acceptable to just get the cheap IKEA version of. (Examples: toilet brush, cheese grater, tea strainer…basically things that are incredibly boring.)
Hope you’re all having a great week and if you’re celebrating, hope you have a great Valentine’s day!
